Overview/Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Specialist to support onsite Data Center commissioning projects. This role will lead and perform mechanical commissioning activities, including QA/QC testing, functional performance testing, equipment and systems startup, and verification that systems meet design requirements and owner expectations. The Commissioning Specialist will focus on owner’s L4/L5 Data Center commissioning while overseeing and supporting L0-L3 commissioning activities. This position will work directly with Jacobs clients, project stakeholders, contractors, and project teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations.
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and perform mechanical commissioning activities for Data Center projects.
• Lead owner’s L4/L5 commissioning and functional performance testing.
• Oversee and support L0-L3 commissioning activities performed by contractors and project teams.
• Develop, execute, and document commissioning tests and procedures.
• Perform QA/QC inspections, functional performance testing, and equipment and systems startup.
• Verify mechanical systems meet design requirements, specifications, codes, and owner expectations.
• Commission utility infrastructure, mechanical systems, plumbing systems, life safety systems, building/facility systems, and building automation systems/controls.
• Coordinate directly with clients, project stakeholders, contractors, and other commissioning disciplines.
• Identify and document deficiencies and support resolution through final acceptance.
• Support facility turnover and operational readiness with a focus on system performance, reliability, and efficiency.
• Travel extensively to project sites as required.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
• 10+ years of progressive experience as a Mechanical Commissioning Specialist.
• Experience with utility infrastructure, life safety systems, mechanical systems, plumbing systems, building/facility systems and components, building automation systems/controls, and facility O&M.
• 2–3 years of focused Data Center commissioning experience.
• Experience documenting L2/L3 commissioning activities and leading L4/L5 testing for Data Center commissioning.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, TAB mechanical testing, and applicable code requirements.
• Strong understanding of the construction and commissioning process.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• Ability to successfully clear a background check.
• Ability to travel up to 95%.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Residence in the Washington, DC or Northern Virginia metro area preferred; expenses may be considered for the right candidate.
• Industry-recognized commissioning certification.
• IR Thermography Level 1 or Level 2 certification.
• AWS or similar L4 Lead certification.
• NFPA 70E certification.
• OSHA 10 certification at minimum; OSHA 30 preferred.
• Experience with IR thermography.
