    • Bachelor"s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

    • 5 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments.

    • Experience in electrical infrastructure.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Professional Engineering (PE) license.

    • Experience working with data center equipment and environments (e.g., switchgear, generators, transformers, controls, security monitoring systems, fire safety systems), with a strong understanding of start up/commissioning processes.

    • Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of high voltage substations, medium or low voltage electrical distribution systems, AC/DC systems, and associated power management or SCADA tools.

    About the job

Our thirst for technology is a part of everything we do. The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. Our lab mirrors a research and development department -- cutting-edge strategies are born, tested and tested again. Along with a team of great minds, you take on complex topics like how we use power or how to run state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facilities. You"re a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements -- even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.

With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical).

As a Data Center Services Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the field-level implementation and operational support of Google's rapidly expanding data centers. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, construction, and commissioning of complex Electrical distribution systems, ensuring projects are delivered safely, swiftly, and with high quality. This involves managing site-level electrical engineering issues, ensuring compliance with design standards and local regulations, supporting quality assurance, and providing technical guidance to vendor teams. We"re looking for a strong communicator and collaborator who thrives on construction sites and has experience with complex mechanical systems, ideally within mission-critical facilities, heavy industrial, oil and gas, or semiconductor industries.

Ability to be onsite 5 days a week.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

    US: $144000 - $208000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

    Responsibilities

    • Own and resolve site-level electrical issues during project execution. Maintain all DC-related electrical design requirements, interface documents, and ensure compliance with the change control process.
    • Partner with core engineering to integrate new technologies, providing site-specific requirements during BOD development and coordinating schematics with the EOR to meet local requirements.
    • Understand ongoing electrical project requirements, respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) with the Engineer of Record (EOR), and manage the site bug process with cross-functional teams.
    • Collaborate with DCDE core teams to develop and manage site electrical designs-from Basis of Design (BOD) to Issued for Construction (IFC)-for new builds, upgrades, and renovations.
    • Provide technical support to operations and data center services to define electrical design requirements for multiple DC projects from inception to completion.
