Field Service Representative III (Power Systems)
Locations: Hackettstown, NJ | Roswell, GA | Sterling, VA (including Northern VA, DC Metro, Maryland, and nearby WV) | Hoffman Estates, IL

Compensation: $125,000–$175,000 annually (based on experience)

Position Overview
A leading provider of mission-critical power distribution and control solutions is seeking experienced Field Service Representatives (FSR III) to support customers across multiple regions. This role is ideal for a hands-on electrical professional with strong troubleshooting abilities and experience servicing power distribution equipment in critical facilities, industrial environments, or data center applications.

The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing electrical power systems while serving as a trusted technical resource for customers. This position requires frequent regional travel and direct interaction with clients to ensure system reliability and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Field Service & Technical Support
Perform commissioning, startup, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical power systems and associated equipment.
Service and support low- and medium-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, protective relays, PLC-controlled equipment, and related power distribution systems.
Conduct diagnostic testing and identify root causes of equipment failures and operational issues.
Support emergency service calls and critical power restoration efforts.
Utilize industry-standard electrical testing equipment and software tools to evaluate system performance.
Assist with system upgrades, modifications, and preventive maintenance programs.
Customer Support
Serve as the primary technical point of contact during field service visits.
Communicate findings, recommendations, and corrective actions to customers in a clear and professional manner.
Provide operational guidance and basic maintenance training to end users when required.
Prepare detailed service reports, testing documentation, and commissioning records.
Operations & Documentation
Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, service activities, and project documentation.
Coordinate with engineering, project management, and field service teams to ensure successful project execution.
Utilize service management software, ERP systems, and reporting tools to document work activities.
Support remote troubleshooting efforts when applicable.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, and customer site requirements.
Participate in ongoing safety training and maintain applicable certifications.
Promote a strong safety culture while working in energized and mission-critical environments.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Systems, or a related technical field preferred.
Relevant industry certifications are highly desirable, including:NFPA 70E
OSHA 30
NETA-related training or certifications
Other power systems certifications
Experience
3–5+ years of field service experience supporting electrical power systems, industrial controls, or critical power infrastructure.
Hands-on experience with:Low- and medium-voltage power distribution equipment
Circuit breakers and switchgear
Transformers
Protective relays
PLC-based control systems
Experience supporting commissioning, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
Technical Skills
Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities.
Working knowledge of power distribution systems and industrial electrical equipment.
Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems, and protective relay technologies is preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and service reporting platforms.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
