Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) intern technicians between July 2026 - January 2027. Interns will participate in our 6-month work and training internship at our Northern Virginia facilities.

NOTE: Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. This program accommodates concurrent academic studies at Northern Virginia Community College.

NOTE: If applying for positions in Oregon (OR) and Ohio (OH), these sites are within AWS GovCloud region. Effective May 15, 2017, logical access to the AWS GovCloud region will be restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S. Citizens (GovCloud may NOT be accessed from outside of the United States).

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds
  • Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to participate in primary responder rotation and provide after-hours support as needed
  • Working in cramped and/or elevated and/or noisy environments
  • Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day
  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation

Schedule:

  • Full-time (40 hours/week), Monday-Friday day shift
  • 6-month program duration (July 2026 - January 2027)
  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate academic commitments
  • Successful completion may lead to full-time employment

This position requires on-site presence at one of our Northern Virginia Data Center Locations. You will be required to work shift work that may include days/nights/weekends/holidays. Traveling within the regional work area is required. You will be responsible for having a reliable personal vehicle and a valid drivers license to travel within the regional work area, as company transportation will not be provided.

Key job responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment across data center infrastructure
  • Support root cause analysis for equipment performance and potential failures
  • Participate in troubleshooting facility and rack-level operational events
  • Record and analyze daily operational readings and metrics
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure engineering initiatives

Youll work alongside experienced professionals, participating in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting facility events, and supporting infrastructure operations. Each day brings new challenges and learning opportunities, from monitoring operational metrics to assisting with rack installations and facility management.
