Job Summary
The Data Center Technician 3 serves as a senior technical expert responsible for advanced data center operations supporting client's mission-critical IT infrastructure. This role performs complex technical work, supports large-scale infrastructure projects, and provides expert-level troubleshooting to ensure high availability, reliability, physical security, and operational excellence across data center environments. The technician works independently on complex tasks, serves as a technical escalation resource, and collaborates closely with engineering teams, facilities, and vendors.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Performs advanced installation, configuration, maintenance, and decommissioning of servers, network hardware, and data center infrastructure.
• Provides expert-level troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex or high-impact infrastructure incidents.
• Serves as a technical escalation resource during incidents, outages, and on-call rotations.
• Monitors system health, environmental conditions, power, and cooling systems to ensure continuous availability.
• Supports large-scale infrastructure projects, including upgrades, migrations, deployments, and decommissioning efforts.
• Executes preventative maintenance activities for UPS, PDUs, generators, and cooling systems.
• Reviews and validates rack layouts, cabling, labeling, and physical asset accuracy in accordance with established standards.
• Implements approved infrastructure changes and maintenance activities while adhering to change management procedures.
• Works with vendors, facilities, and external service providers to support day-to-day data center operations.
• Ensures adherence to security, safety, regulatory, and operational requirements related to data center environments.
• Maintains accurate documentation, tickets, and records related to infrastructure work, incidents, and maintenance activities.
• Contributes to the development and improvement of data center operational procedures and technical documentation.
• Provides technical guidance and knowledge sharing to less-experienced technicians as needed.
• Assists with capacity planning activities by providing technical input and operational data.
• Supports initiatives focused on improving infrastructure reliability, resilience, and operational efficiency.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
Experience: 4 years of Data Center operations or similar Environment
Education: at least High School or GED
