Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Data Center Hands & Feet Technicians to provide 24x7x365 on-site infrastructure support for data center and remote-site operations supporting a large enterprise environment.
The technician will provide hands-on support for servers, network equipment, racks, cabling, equipment installations/removals, hardware replacements, incident response, change windows, and physical infrastructure troubleshooting.
This is a hands-on data center role requiring the ability to work independently, follow technical direction from remote engineering teams, and respond to scheduled and unplanned infrastructure activities.
Key Responsibilities
Data Center Operations & 24x7 Coverage
- Provide hands-on data center support as part of a 7x24x365 coverage model.
- Maintain on-site coverage at designated data center locations based on the established schedule.
- Provide additional technician coverage when equipment is being mounted, unmounted, installed, or removed.
- Provide coverage for team members during vacations, holidays, illness, or other absences.
- Follow established client processes and procedures.
- Complete appropriate knowledge transfer when joining the team or assuming coverage from another technician.
- Communicate staffing or coverage changes to the appropriate team.
Hardware Installation & Data Center Infrastructure- Install and position server cabinets and IT equipment according to approved data center floor plans.
- Install servers and other supported equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform physical installation, removal, movement, and replacement of IT hardware.
- Perform and troubleshoot data center cabling, including above-floor cabling.
- Assist with rack configuration and maintain accurate rack documentation.
- Coordinate with facilities teams regarding:
- Power requirements
- Rack placement
- Raised-floor requirements
- Equipment space
- Physical/environmental requirements
- Assist with hardware availability and preparation for scheduled maintenance activities, including microcode updates and engineering changes.
- Identify and communicate installation prerequisites and post-installation requirements.
Incident & Hardware Troubleshooting
Provide hands-on support during infrastructure incidents, including:
- Inspect equipment status and external conditions.
- Check equipment lights, physical connections, cables, and other indicators.
- Verify physical connectivity.
- Troubleshoot physical hardware issues under the direction of remote engineering teams.
- Connect a laptop directly to equipment to provide remote access for engineering teams.
- Follow technical instructions from remote client engineering teams to execute commands or perform physical troubleshooting.
- Replace defective equipment with like-for-like hardware.
- Replace or reconnect cables as required.
- Identify environmental or physical conditions that may be impacting equipment operation.
- Provide status updates and document actions taken during incidents.
Change Management- Provide hands-on support during scheduled data center change windows.
- Install, remove, power on/off, and physically reposition equipment.
- Report equipment status before, during, and after changes.
- Validate physical and network connectivity following changes.
- Follow established change-management procedures.
- Coordinate with client, Vology, and other technical teams during change activities.
- Support vendor access and data center security/escort requirements.
- Coordinate technician arrival and access for scheduled vendor activities.
Required Qualifications- 2+ years of experience working in a data center, server room, IT infrastructure, or similar hands-on technical environment.
- Experience installing, removing, moving, or replacing servers and/or IT infrastructure equipment.
- Experience with rack-and-stack activities.
- Experience with data center cabling and physical connectivity.
- Ability to troubleshoot physical hardware and connectivity issues.
- Comfortable working with laptops and connecting directly to servers/network equipment for troubleshooting.
- Ability to follow detailed technical instructions from remote engineering teams.
- Experience working within formal change-management and incident-management processes.
- Ability to work independently during assigned shifts.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work a 24x7x365 coverage schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and/or on-call assignments as required.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to remote sites when required.
- Ability to lift, move, and install data center equipment as required by the position.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting large enterprise data centers.
- Experience with Hands & Feet / Smart Hands data center services.
- Experience supporting server, storage, network, or telecommunications equipment.
- Experience with rack installation and equipment mounting/unmounting.
- Experience with structured cabling.
- Familiarity with data center power and environmental requirements.
- Experience supporting equipment maintenance, upgrades, or engineering changes.
- Experience working with remote infrastructure engineering teams.
- Experience working in environments with formal ITIL/change-management processes.
- Previous experience supporting healthcare, financial services, or other large enterprise environments.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a
hands-on Data Center Technician who is comfortable working with physical infrastructure and responding to both scheduled and unplanned requests.
This person should be able to walk into a data center, identify equipment and physical connectivity issues, perform rack-and-stack activities, replace hardware or cables, validate equipment status, and follow instructions from a remote engineering team.

NOTE : Main location is Dallas, TX and then there are remote locations that you will travel to within a ten-mile radius(Few times in a week). Mileage is reimbursed
