TEAM

Fidelity Enterprise Infrastructure is currently hiring a Data Center Technician III for the Data Center and Colocation Operations team.

The Role

Responsible in providing implementation and support services across several different platforms including telephony, network infrastructure (LAN/WAN/SAN), server hardware and storage devices. As a member of the Data Center Operations Team, the successful applicant will be involved in activities including the installation, support, and decommissioning activities related to the above-mentioned platforms. They will have the capability to cable, label, and test server and network connectivity (fiber and copper) to the devices, as well as diagnose and correct issues related to the supported platforms are essential. Additional responsibilities include critical space management, asset management/inventory control and strict adherence to change and incident management policies.

* This role will include 5-8-hour days while working a 2nd shift schedule, including rotational on-call responsibility.

The Expertise You Have 

  • Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols, WAN, LAN, SAN, voice technologies

  • Ability to use telecommunications test equipment, specifically Fluke network testers, Network analyzers, carrier circuit test gear capable of Ethernet/DWDM/SONET and cable media testers.

  • Basic background on enterprise data center facilities infrastructure including Power/Cooling/Fire suppression/Security-Access Control

  • Experience with racking and stacking and cabling and labeling of servers.

 The Skills You Bring

  • Hands -on experience in structured cabling concepts and practices is required for the role as many projects and initiatives will entail physical layer implementation.

  • TCP/IP networking protocols, WAN, LAN, SAN, voice technologies

  • Experience with carrier circuit test gear capable of Ethernet/DWDM/SONET and cable media testers.

  • Strong Enterprise data center facilities infrastructure including Power/Cooling/Fire suppression/Security-Access Control

  • Knowledge of telecommunications test equipment, specifically Fluke network testers

  •  Excellent communication and writing skills. Good interpersonal skills and ability to manage several priorities in a rapidly changing environment.

The Value You Deliver

  • Data Center infrastructure support and problem resolution of complex hardware and software issues across several communication platform.

  •  Installation and Decommissioning of IT equipment – Includes creating project plans (network connectivity, port turn up, DNS…), asset management, physical rack/stack of equipment, initial device configuration, physical layer connectivity.

  • Critical space planning – Ensure proper placement of IT equipment based on environmental factors and IT dependencies.

  • Change and incident management coordination.

  • Collaboration with critical EI partners and facility engineering ensuring timely delivery of IT equipment and infrastructure.

  • Asset/Inventory management – Track and document all IT assets in CMDB tool throughout device lifecycle.

  • Manage physical layer telecom connectivity and structured cable plant design.

  • Assist in developing department policies and procedures.

  • Assist and may lead project initiatives outside of BAU activities

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.

The base salary range for this position is $55,000-$105,000 per year.  

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
