Our large and well established client is building up their team and searching for Data Center Technicians in Virgina. 

Fiber Optic / Data Center Technician

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, splice, and terminate different types of fiber optic cable, including single-mode, multi-mode, ribbon, and stranded fiber.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic connectivity and technical issues in the field.
  • Read and follow construction prints, schematics, test results, and project documentation.
  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance on fiber splicing and testing equipment.
  • Conduct fiber testing to confirm signal quality and network performance.
  • Complete fiber modifications and repairs in aerial, underground, buried, and indoor environments.
Qualifications & Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of telecommunications, fiber optics, or related technical experience.
  • Experience using fusion splicers and fiber testing equipment from manufacturers such as EXFO, Sumitomo, Fitel, Fujikura, or similar.
  • Ability to understand blueprints, project specifications, and quality documentation.
  • Knowledge of telecom cabling types and environments, including CAT3, CAT5, fiber optic, riser, plenum, and PVC cable applications.
  • Familiarity with standard telecommunications color coding practices.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members.
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders.
  • Able to work safely in confined spaces when required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred.
