Job Description

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Data Control Technician to support daily fiscal and administrative operations. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate records, processing financial and administrative documents, and ensuring information is entered and managed efficiently within computer systems.

The ideal candidate is organized, customer-service focused, and comfortable handling a variety of clerical and accounting-related tasks in a fast-paced office environment. This position works under direct supervision and follows established procedures and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, process, and maintain records, forms, invoices, checks, and other documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Enter, update, and retrieve data from computer systems while ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Prepare routine and special reports, forms, and other fiscal or administrative documents.
  • Process invoices, checks, electronic fund transfers, and other accounting transactions.
  • Assist vendors, departments, and outside agencies with payment questions and related matters.
  • Perform routine calculations and support bookkeeping and fiscal operations.
  • Maintain organized files, records, reports, and documentation in accordance with office procedures.
  • Provide customer service by researching information, answering questions, and assisting with fiscal or procedural inquiries.
  • Perform general office duties including filing, typing, scanning, copying, phone support, and supply management.
  • Back up records and perform other related clerical or administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in office technology, information systems, or a closely related field

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of three months of related, full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Special skills or equipment certification may be required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Communicate effectively with others in giving and obtaining information, in following prescribed operating instructions, and in preparing routine reports from fiscal data.
