Title: Date Engineer (Remote)
Location: Long Beach, CA
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to support enterprise data platform initiatives. This role focuses on transforming and engineering operational data into actionable, high-quality data solutions that support enterprise analytics, reporting, and business decision-making.
The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in modern data engineering, cloud-based data platforms, and healthcare data environments, with the ability to design scalable pipelines, ensure data integrity, and enable data-driven outcomes aligned with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble large, complex datasets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements
Design and build efficient ETL/ELT pipelines for data processing and integration
Create and maintain data warehouse architectures for storing and querying large datasets
Design and enhance data pipelines, repositories, and data models for structured and semi-structured data, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and optimal performance
Analyze, design, and determine coding and integration requirements for data solutions
Perform data analysis to troubleshoot data-related issues and support resolution
Implement data quality monitoring processes to ensure production data is accurate and reliable for stakeholders
Monitor and manage performance of data systems and troubleshoot issues
Develop technical documentation including process designs, system specifications, mock-ups, and test plans
Develop process flows, context diagrams, and data flow diagrams to document systems and processes
Ensure all data processes comply with data security, privacy, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA/PHI)
Work under limited supervision while ensuring alignment with enterprise data architecture guidelines
Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to support data-driven decision-making
Partner with business units and engineering teams to support long-term data platform strategy
Plan and execute deliverables effectively in a collaborative team environment
Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in data engineering
Support organizational goals and enterprise data initiatives
Perform other duties as required
Mandatory Skills (Must-Have)
4+ years of experience in data engineering or related technical roles
2+ years of experience working with healthcare data (payer/provider preferred)
4+ years of strong hands-on experience in SQL and query languages
Hands-on experience with Snowflake (Mandatory)
Experience working with Microsoft Azure data services (Mandatory)
Strong hands-on experience with dbt, Coalesce, and Databricks (Mandatory)
Proven experience designing data pipelines and working with data warehouse technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, and Amazon Redshift
Experience designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems
Proficiency in data processing tools such as Azure Data Factory, Apache NiFi, Talend, or Informatica
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala
Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure mandatory; Amazon Web Services/Google Cloud exposure is a plus)
Strong hands-on experience in technology modernization and cloud migration initiatives
Relevant domain expertise in CRM platforms and CareAxis (or similar systems)
Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases
Knowledge of data modeling, database design, and data governance
Experience working with structured and unstructured data and modern transformation techniques
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, collaborative environments
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Data Vault 2.0 modeling techniques
Familiarity with building lightweight data applications using Streamlit
Experience with data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark and Apache Kafka
Experience working in Agile software development environments
Exposure to Power BI
Education & Experience
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
4+ years of relevant professional experience
2+ years of healthcare industry experience preferred
Experience with cloud migration initiatives is a strong plus
