Moneta is seeking a Data Systems Engineer to serve as the critical link between our technology environment and the operational data needs of our client teams. This is not a traditional data engineering role focused exclusively on building new pipelines or platforms. It is also not a pure analytics role. Instead, we're looking for someone who enjoys owning and operating critical data systems, ensuring they remain accurate, reliable, and available for the business. In this role, you will take end-to-end responsibility for the health and integrity of key data environments, integrations, and databases. You'll proactively identify and resolve data issues, partner with vendors and internal teams, and help ensure the accuracy of the information our advisors and client teams rely on every day. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in database administration, experience supporting integrations and APIs, and a mindset centered on operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
Own Data Integrity and Quality
- Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data across vendor-managed platforms and internal databases.
- Monitor data quality and proactively investigate anomalies before they impact business users.
- Perform regular integrity reviews, validation processes, and quality assurance checks.
- Identify root causes of data issues and drive resolution through to completion.
- Execute and oversee bulk data updates, including planning, testing, validation, communication, and implementation.
- Support data ingestion processes and ongoing data stewardship efforts.
Support Mission-Critical Data Operations
- Serve as the primary technical contact for data-related operational issues.
- Respond to and troubleshoot data incidents, integration failures, permission issues, and data discrepancies.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve issues effectively.
- Maintain clear documentation of changes, corrections, system configurations, and escalation activity.
- Ensure critical systems remain stable, secure, and operational.
Manage Integrations and Technical Environments
- Support and maintain API integrations and data exchanges across business-critical systems.
- Onboard new data sources and assist with data migrations when needed.
- Manage database administration tasks including permissions, authentication, and environment setup.
- Perform SQL performance tuning and optimization activities.
- Partner with IT teams on infrastructure, security, and system administration initiatives.
Partner Across the Organization
- Collaborate closely with advisors, client teams, operations professionals, and IT resources.
- Translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
- Review internally developed scripts, workflows, and tools to ensure security, reliability, and data integrity.
- Contribute to technical standards, documentation, and best practices.
What Success Looks Like
In this role, you will:
- Take ownership of systems rather than simply supporting them.
- Identify and resolve data issues before they become business problems.
- Build trust through dependable execution and operational excellence.
- Improve data quality, system reliability, and support processes over time.
- Serve as a trusted technical resource for data-related challenges across the organization.
Ideal Background
Successful candidates often come from backgrounds such as:
- Database Administration
- Data Operations
- Data Integration Engineering
- Data Systems Administration

- Technical Operations
You may be a great fit if you've:
- Owned the day-to-day health of production data environments.

- Investigated and resolved complex data quality issues.
- Worked directly with business stakeholders while partnering with technical teams.
- Taken accountability for keeping critical systems operating reliably.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of experience in database administration, data operations, systems engineering, data integration, or a related technical role.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working within relational database environments.
- Experience supporting, monitoring, and maintaining production data systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving data quality issues.
- Experience working with APIs, integrations, and data synchronization processes.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

- Exposure to Power BI, Power Apps, or other business intelligence and operational reporting tools.
- Understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data governance principles.
- Experience working with third-party vendor data environments.
