We are seeking a Big Data Engineer to join our dynamic team and deliver scalable, governed, and business-aligned data products across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in SQL, Python, Snowflake, and dbt and a proven ability to partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable data pipelines, models, and consumption-ready assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, define analytics needs, and transform source system data.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable data models, pipeline logic, transformation patterns, and architecture decisions.
  • Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain data pipelines across Snowflake, AWS, and Microsoft platforms.
  • Develop governed data products that support reporting, analytics, data science, automation, and business decision-making.
  • Build and maintain data models and transformations using SQL, Python, dbt, Snowflake, and modern practices.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, architecture, security, analytics, and business teams to move solutions into production.
  • Apply development standards including version control, code review, testing, documentation, and CI/CD.
  • Support data governance including RBAC, access controls, naming standards, lineage, and data quality expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve delivery, optimize performance, and reduce operational risk.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures, data quality issues, access issues, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Support migration and decommissioning of legacy platforms, reports, and manual processes.
  • Convert recurring ad hoc analysis into scalable data delivery solutions in partnership with analysts and data scientists.
  • Embody a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, documentation, innovation, and learning.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, IT, MIS, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, BI engineering, software engineering, or related technical roles.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills for building, optimizing, and supporting transformations and pipelines.
  • Experience developing pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, data models, or analytics-ready datasets.
  • Production experience with Snowflake and dbt.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD, APIs, AWS Lambda, S3, Octopus Deploy, Power BI, or related tools.
  • Governed data environments, RBAC, secure access, data sharing, and enterprise data governance.
  • Medallion architecture, data products, domain-oriented ownership, or self-service analytics.
  • Experience collaborating with analysts, data scientists, product teams, DevOps, enterprise architects, and business stakeholders.
  • Domain experience in agriculture, energy, supply chain, logistics, trading, hedging, finance, or operations.
