Description

  • Architect and sustain the Office of Medical Education's enterprise data infrastructure.
  • Migrate current rudimentary processes (AppScript/Google Sheets) to a scalable cloud-based lakehouse (e.g., BigQuery) to resolve critical data capacity limits.
  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines within Google Cloud to ingest and unify data from disparate sources (SIS, Canvas LMS, Learning Space, and future-state MHS GENESIS metadata).
  • Oversee data management, programming, processes, and data analysis activities for research protocols, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), sponsor, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead delivery of reporting and analytical solutions to stakeholders, supporting high-volume learning analytics, Accreditation QA/QI, and Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME).
  • Develop future-state AI integrations using Learning Space and Gemini APIs for automated learner feedback.
  • Manage and mentor technical staff.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with research, technical, clinical, and development teams to leverage technical and scientific information.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct Supervisor: Direct authority to make decisions on the following: employee hiring, disciplinary action, starting salaries and merit increases; conduct employee performance evaluations and directs work activities.

HJF is seeking a Data Engineer who will be architecting and maintaining the Office of Medical Education's enterprise data infrastructure, which includes migrating legacy processes to a scalable cloud-based lake house and developing ETL pipelines for diverse data sources. The position also leads the delivery of reporting and analytical solutions to stakeholders and oversees compliance with research protocols.

This position Organizationally reports to Office of CIO, and functionally reports to SOM (School of Medicine) at Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD.
