The Role We Want You For

As a Data Engineer at Clayco, you will help build and operate the Snowflake data lakehouse that powers reporting, advanced analytics, and AI. You’ll design reliable, well-tested pipelines and curated data models, improve platform performance and monitoring, and partner with both technical teams and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, self-service data products. In this role, you will be part of a fast-paced team designing and implementing creative solutions to complex business issues.

The Specifics of the Role

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines from various source systems into a Snowflake data lakehouse.
  •  Analyze data elements, data flow, dependencies, and relationships from different systems and assist in designing conceptual, physical, and logical data models.
  •  Develop complex data sets to fulfill diverse business needs in reporting, advanced analytics, and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Coordinate with third-party service providers for the construction and maintenance of data pipelines.
  • Execute and enable data migrations across systems, such as SQL Server to Snowflake or other cloud data platforms.
  • Develop and implement scripts for data lakehouse maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Implement data quality checks, anomaly detection, and SLAs.
  • Maintain metadata and documentation.
  • Assist various business and technical stakeholders with data-related technical needs and issues.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand and transform business requirements into scalable and manageable data solutions.
  • Present solutions and options to leadership, project teams, and stakeholders, adapting the communication style to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure adherence to documented design and development patterns and standards within the team.
  • Proactively monitor and resolve ongoing production issues.
  • Promote the approach of self-service data solutions and enable other teams with analytics solutions delivery through a 'Data as a Service' model.
  • Make data AI-ready by translating business knowledge into a semantic layer.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in designing, developing, and implementing data solutions.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge with strong query writing and stored procedures skills.
  • Strong experience with relational databases such as Snowflake, SQL Server, or Oracle.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented/object function scripting languages such as Python, Java, Scala, etc.
