Data Engineer Sr - Contractor

ROLE/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate the collection, normalization and analysis of datasets across multiple data platforms.
" Assist in designing and building data service infrastructure across multiple data platforms.
" Work with analytics teams to ensure functionality in data systems.
" Participate in the development of and implementation of data solutions for multiple applications to ensure scalability and maintainability.
" Design and implement process improvements including automation of processes and redesign of data infrastructure.
" Owns significant components of the database platform (specific schemas/domains, key performance areas, or HA/DR operational ownership) with minimal guidance.
" Leads technical workstreams (e.g., partitioning rollout, performance remediation, operational readiness) and drives them to closure.
" Improves runbooks/automation; contributes to production incident response and prevention.

MUST HAVE SKILLS:
" Strong hands-on experience designing and operating high-volume, enterprise OLTP databases supporting mission-critical transactions.
" Advanced SQL and performance tuning experience
" MySQL
" Oracle
" Experience with operational best practices: backup/restore validation, patch planning, monitoring/alerting, incident response, and runbooks.
" Proven ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and security with clear, structured communication.

FLEX SKILLS:
" Exadata experience
" Data Guard experience (HA/DR, role transitions, validation of primary/standby states).
" GoldenGate experience (replication design/operations).
" Understanding of enterprise MySQL deployment/replication patterns (e.g., primary/replica cross-site patterns).

SOFT SKILLS:
" Strong written and verbal communication skills
" Independent work and collaboration skills
" Ability to work in cross functional teams.

EDUCATION:
" Bachelor's degree
