Amazon is seeking an experienced Data Engineering Manager to lead and scale a team building next-generation data analytics platforms that power digital businesses across Amazon.


You will architect and deliver enterprise-wide analytical datamarts while defining metrics strategy for analyzing DA product health and

success. This role involves delivering large-scale architecture and solutions that accelerate digital customer insights and data

instrumentation for cross-digital content optimization. You'll leverage data lakes, distributed processing, NoSQL databases, and batch/stream processing to solve business analytics and ML use-cases


The MIDAS team is part of Amazon's Digital Analytics (DA) engineering organization, specializing in analytics and data engineering products for cross-digital teams. Our comprehensive platform includes metadata discovery, data lineage tracking, customer segmentation, compliance automation, AI-powered data access through generative AI and LLMs, and intelligent data quality detection. We serve over 100 Amazon business and technology teams with 20,000+ monthly active users, delivering mission-critical capabilities that enable data-driven decision making at Amazon scale.


Key job responsibilities

You will partner with Software Developers, Data Engineers, and ML Scientists to create analytical BI and data products. The role offers broad

scope to think big on behalf of Amazon's digital content, subscription, and device customers, with wide visibility to connect with digital

leadership and influence through high-value BI insights and analytical tools.


The ideal candidate has strong business judgment, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and is comfortable working with business

leaders at all levels, including senior management.

Amazon Digital Acceleration powers ordering, subscriptions, and device management for Prime, Amazon Video, Music, Audible, Alexa, and Kindle, amongst other digital businesses. We process billions of digital purchases every year and enable our digital businesses to grow their businesses worldwide. Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of processing data with a massively parallel technology (such as Redshift, Teradata, Netezza, Spark or Hadoop based big data solution) experience

- 2+ years of relational database technology (such as Redshift, Oracle, MySQL or MS SQL) experience

- 2+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics (using ETL/ELT processes) experience

- 5+ years of data engineering experience

- Experience managing a data or BI team

- Experience communicating to senior management and customers verbally and in writing

- Experience leading and influencing the data or BI strategy of your team or organization

- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR

- Experience with AWS Tools and Technologies (Redshift, S3, EC2)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $153,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $264,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
