About the Opportunity
Join a project focused on strengthening data governance to improve the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data across systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop and maintain data dictionaries, standardize data practices, and manage metadata repositories that support transparent, high-quality data use and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive data dictionaries; validate definitions with SMEs and system owners; provide user training.
- Establish and enforce data naming conventions, formatting rules, and coding standards; identify and resolve cross-system discrepancies; support modernization and interoperability initiatives.
- Design, implement, and maintain metadata repositories capturing lineage, ownership, and usage; standardize metadata collection and cataloging processes; monitor and improve metadata quality.
- Support data governance policies, procedures, and compliance; monitor adherence and escalate issues; assist with audits and reporting.
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses, track performance metrics, and model data trends.
- Build and maintain interactive dashboards using tools such as Tableau or Microsoft Power BI.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Database Management, Public Health, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or closely related roles.
- Strong command of SQL.
- Hands-on experience with data dictionaries, data standards, and metadata management frameworks.
- Experience with data governance/metadata tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, or similar).
- Ability to communicate complex metrics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) and implications for data standardization and metadata.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master s degree in a related discipline.
- Experience with Python or R.
- Experience building dashboards in Tableau or Microsoft Power BI.
- Background in healthcare, public health, or government data environments.
Work Environment
Onsite in Smyrna, DE two days per week (Mondays and Tuesdays). Candidates should be within a practical commuting distance and comfortable with in-person panel interviews.
