Job Title: Data Governance Architect/Analyst
Location: Pleasanton, CA (Onsite)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Architect/Analyst to define and implement enterprise data governance frameworks that ensure data is trusted, secure, compliant, and optimized for business use. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data architecture, governance frameworks, enterprise data management, and stakeholder engagement. This role will work closely with business leaders, data owners, data stewards, and engineering teams to establish data standards, improve data quality, and drive governance adoption across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and operationalize enterprise data governance frameworks, operating models, and workflows.
  • Establish data standards, policies, governance processes, and architectural patterns.
  • Partner with business and technology teams to translate business requirements into enforceable data practices.
  • Facilitate stakeholder discussions for requirements gathering, validation, and alignment.
  • Collaborate with data owners, stewards, architects, and engineering teams to improve data quality, interoperability, and compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with executive stakeholders and business leaders.
  • Drive adoption of governance practices across enterprise data platforms.
  • Translate complex business needs into clear concepts, requirements, and actionable solutions.
  • Align diverse stakeholder groups toward common data governance objectives.
  • Support strategic planning, problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with change management activities related to governance adoption.
  • Provide guidance on data architecture, modeling, and technical solution design.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in data governance, data architecture, or enterprise data management.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing data governance frameworks at scale.
  • Strong understanding of data standards, policies, operating models, and governance workflows.
  • Experience working across business and technology teams.
  • Strong business analysis and requirements gathering skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience working with executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate complex data concepts in business terms.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience with retail business processes, especially customer journey and retail operations.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain processes, preferably within retail environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data governance platforms such as Atlan or Alation.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or cloud data environments.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, workflow development, and wireframing.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data transformation initiatives.
  • Change management experience.
