Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Data Integrity Engineer to support data quality, validation, reconciliation, and integrity initiatives within a mission-critical
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) federal healthcare program. The Data Integrity Engineer will work with data engineers, application developers, database teams, business analysts, QA engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure that enterprise data is accurate, complete, consistent, reliable, and properly maintained across integrated systems.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in data validation, data quality analysis, SQL, data reconciliation, data profiling, and troubleshooting data issues across complex enterprise environments. Experience working with healthcare, federal government, Medicare/Medicaid, or Program Integrity data is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute data validation and integrity processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability of enterprise data.
- Analyze data across multiple systems to identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, missing data, duplicate records, and data quality issues.
- Develop complex SQL queries to perform data profiling, validation, reconciliation, and root-cause analysis.
- Establish and implement data quality rules, validation checks, and integrity controls based on business and technical requirements.
- Perform source-to-target data validation and reconciliation across integrated applications and enterprise data repositories.
- Investigate data anomalies and work with development, database, integration, and business teams to determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Validate data transformations, mappings, integrations, and downstream reporting outputs.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand data definitions, business rules, data relationships, and expected outcomes.
- Develop automated data quality and validation processes to reduce manual data verification activities.
- Monitor data quality trends and identify recurring issues requiring process, application, or data-model improvements.
- Support testing activities including data validation, integration testing, regression testing, and production data verification.
- Review data interfaces and integration processes to identify potential data integrity risks.
- Maintain data validation procedures, data quality documentation, mappings, business rules, and technical specifications.
- Support defect analysis and resolution by providing detailed data findings and evidence to development and QA teams.
- Ensure data handling and validation activities follow applicable security, privacy, quality, and federal program requirements.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional technology and business teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve data quality, automation, monitoring, and overall data reliability.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in data quality, data validation, data engineering, data analysis, database development, or a related discipline.
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Experience performing data profiling, reconciliation, validation, and root-cause analysis.
- Strong understanding of data quality concepts including accuracy, completeness, consistency, uniqueness, validity, and timeliness.
- Experience validating data across multiple systems and data sources.
- Experience developing data quality rules, validation queries, and automated data integrity checks.
- Experience troubleshooting data discrepancies and working with technical teams to resolve data-related defects.
- Strong understanding of relational data structures, database concepts, data relationships, and data mapping.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting federal government or healthcare technology programs.
- Experience working with CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, or Program Integrity data.
- Experience with Teradata or other enterprise-scale relational database platforms.
- Experience with data integration, ETL/ELT processes, APIs, and enterprise application interfaces.
- Experience validating data exchanged through REST APIs and distributed applications.
- Experience with Java/Spring Boot or other enterprise application environments is a plus.
- Experience working with cloud-based data environments, particularly AWS, is a plus.
- Experience with data quality, data governance, metadata, and data lineage concepts.
- Experience developing automated data validation or reconciliation frameworks.
- Experience with reporting and business intelligence environments.
- Experience supporting sensitive or regulated healthcare data environments.
- Knowledge of federal data security, privacy, and compliance requirements is a plus.
Work Environment
This position will work as part of a multidisciplinary technology team supporting enterprise applications and data integration within the
CMS federal healthcare environment. The role will collaborate closely with data engineers, application developers, database teams, QA engineers, business analysts, architects, and program stakeholders.
The environment includes integrated CMS systems, enterprise data aggregation, relational databases, REST-based integrations, cloud-native applications, and data used to support Program Integrity operations. Data integrity is particularly important because the platform consolidates information from multiple CMS systems and supports operational decision-making and fraud, waste, and abuse investigations.
Compensation:
The expected compensation range for this position is $90,000 - $150,000 annually. Compensation is determined in good faith and may vary based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, clearance level, labor category alignment, contract requirements, work location, internal equity, and business needs.
