Description:

The UNM Early Childhood Services Center (ECSC), is seeking candidates for a Data Manager to support the Statewide Early Childhood Education & Care Department (ECECD) Comprehensive Early Learning and Consultation initiative. Data Manager will provide administrative, technical, and operational support to ensure the successful coordination and completion of multiple projects. This position works closely with the Project Development Team to monitor timelines, track deliverables, and maintain project documentation. Candidates must have documented experience collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and summarizing data in preparation for the generation of statistical and analytical reports. Position will be responsible for managing data across multiple systems and supporting communication among project stakeholders. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, technologically proficient, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The preferred candidate will have experience with the following systems: Microsoft 360 suite (including advanced Excel skills), Gravity Forms, and Survey Monkey. Experience with the following early childhood systems are beneficial but training will be provided to those without experience in these systems : Teachstone/ CLASS, Minnesota Executive Function Scale (MEFS), Language Environment Analysis (LENA), and NM Early Childhood Professional Development Information System (PDIS). *Candidates should include information documenting how they are meeting the preferred qualifications in their cover letter.

Summary

Manages and maintains a comprehensive data for the Training and Consultation team at UNM Early Childhood Services Center, ensuring consistency and integrity of data; oversees collection and reporting of complex, related information. Interprets data, including statistical values, and provides advice and consultation regarding implications; may make recommendations for adjustments. Conducts needs assessments, designs and creates databases, and participates in testing and implementation of new applications and/or enhancements and modifications to existing systems. Provides assistance and training to system users.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and designs methods and procedures for collecting, organizing, interpreting, and classifying information for input into computer and retrieval from computer, utilizing knowledge of symbolic language, optical or pattern recognition, database construction, and retrieval methods.
  • Collects, analyzes, interprets, and summarizes data in preparation for generation of statistical and analytical reports.
  • Develops alternate designs to resolve problems in input, storage, or retrieval of information, utilizing knowledge of electronic data processing principles, mathematics, and computer capabilities.
  • Consults with and advises clientele on the use and interpretation of data; collaborates as appropriate with clientele in the structuring and development of data requirements.
  • Performs needs assessment activities and works with other information systems personnel to determine feasibility of development of new databases and/or enhancements or modifications to existing databases.
  • Develops specifications for data capture and input; monitors input to ensure consistency, quality, and integrity of data.
  • Provides technical assistance and training to department personnel in the use of personal computers, standard software packages, and on-line information systems.
  • Makes recommendations for on-line program enhancements; assists in testing and implementation of modifications and enhancements.
  • Supervises or oversees the work of programming and/or data entry staff and/or student employees.
  • Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
  • May conduct individual, group, and/or organization-based presentations related to organization objectives and parameters.
  • May set up and maintain staff security access codes; may manage departmental client server infrastructure.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
