The Role
As the Data Modeler supporting Workplace Investments, you will blend deep data modeling knowledge and data architecture experience to build data models for multiple key initiatives. In an agile environment, you will collaborate with other leaders to establish standards for the Data Modeling Center of Excellence, influence strategic decisions, and build solutions that help scale the business.
You will guide a team of data modelers who primarily work within autonomous squads across product areas. You are committed to staying hands-on, continuously developing your expertise, and bringing the latest industry thinking to empower others with that knowledge.
You will work closely with business and technical teams to build or assist in the creation of scalable, flexible, and well-defined data models that improve product offerings and accelerate time to market. You will also help drive conformance to the enterprise data strategy and enterprise data taxonomy.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
* Strong data modeling experience (Conceptual, Logical, Physical, 3NF, Dimensional) at both project and enterprise levels.
* Expertise in dimensional modeling with experience designing conformed dimensions across business units.
* Experience with data modeling tools such as PowerDesigner, Oracle Designer, Erwin, or Hackolade.
* Experience collaborating with Data Engineering, Data Architecture, and Data Analytics teams.
* Solid understanding of data architecture principles and best practices.
* Ability to write and analyze SQL queries (preferably ANSI SQL).
* Strong knowledge of database technologies, techniques, and trends.
* Experience with Snowflake is a plus.
* Experience with data governance and metadata management tools is a plus.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to explain data structures to non-technical audiences.
* Results-oriented with the ability to work independently.
* Strong interpersonal, reviewing, negotiation, and influencing skills.
