ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We seek a consultant to evaluate our analytics infrastructure - including our Snowflake data warehouse, dbt transformation layer, and Azure cloud footprint - and to recommend improvements for scalable, AI enabled operations. The engagement should produce a prioritized roadmap covering architecture optimization, AI workload readiness, deployment workflows, and cost management.
- Infrastructure & Warehouse Review. Assess current analytics architecture, including Snowflake warehouse design (databases, schemas, roles, warehouse sizing, and query performance) and the dbt transformation layer (model structure, tests, documentation, and orchestration). Evaluate integration patterns across sources and identify bottlenecks, redundancies, and opportunities for modernization.
- Azure & Cloud Optimization. Evaluate our Azure footprint and how it integrates with Snowflake and recommend configurations aligned with best practices for security, scalability, and reliability.
- AI-Optimized Infrastructure Design. Recommend architectural changes needed to support AI and ML workloads - compute, storage, vector search, model hosting, and data pipeline readiness for training and inference.
- AI Deployment Workflow. Define a repeatable workflow for deploying AI tools and models from our infrastructure, covering environments, CI/CD, model governance, monitoring, and handoff between data, engineering, and business teams.
- Cost Management. Provide a framework for monitoring, forecasting, and optimizing Snowflake and Azure spend - including warehouse sizing and auto-suspend policies, storage and compute credit consumption, reserved capacity, and resource tagging - as well as AI token consumption for Snowflake Cortex agents and related LLM workloads, with chargeback recommendations across teams.
- Futureproofing & Roadmap. Deliver a 12-24-month forward-looking roadmap that anticipates emerging AI capabilities, data growth, and evolving Azure services, with clear decision points to avoid architectural lock-in.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated experience designing and operating analytics platforms on Snowflake and Azure, including production use of dbt for transformation and orchestration.
- Hands-on experience building AI/ML-ready infrastructure on Snowflake (e.g., Cortex, Snowpark, vector search) and Azure, including data pipelines, model deployment, and MLOps workflows.
- Proven track record of cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices.
- Strategic, forward-looking perspective on data and AI architecture trends. Deliverables Current-state assessment report; target-state architecture recommendation; AI deployment workflow playbook; cost management framework; and a prioritized 12-24 month roadmap with effort and impact estimates.
