Data Platform Architect

Job Overview

The Enterprise Data Platform Architect provides technical leadership for the implementation and continual evolution of enterprise data platforms that enable secure, scalable digital services, analytics, and AI solutions. This role combines enterprise technology strategy with hands-on execution, establishing architecture, engineering standards, automation, and reusable platform services that support modernization across multiple organizations.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the target architecture and multi-year roadmap for an enterprise data platform aligned with modernization initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies while maintaining architectural consistency and enterprise standards.
• Build and continuously mature cloud-based data platforms, from initial MVP through enterprise-scale implementation.
• Establish engineering standards, implementation practices, and operational guardrails for enterprise data platforms.
• Design secure, multi-tenant environments capable of supporting multiple organizations while addressing data co-mingling considerations.
• Partner with security teams to implement identity and access management, encryption, auditing, and other enterprise security capabilities.
• Design and build reusable platform services rather than organization-specific implementations.
• Develop standardized onboarding patterns for organizations adopting enterprise data products and services.
• Ensure alignment across enterprise modernization initiatives and technology programs.
• Develop data products and AI-ready infrastructure in partnership with product and data teams.
• Establish and promote engineering best practices across enterprise data platform initiatives.
• Collaborate with technology leaders, solution architects, cloud engineering, integration, security, governance, and data teams.
• Partner with cross-functional technical teams to implement enterprise data products and shared platform capabilities.
• Promote API-first and product-based approaches to information sharing and enterprise data consumption.
• Communicate complex technology concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Establish enterprise-level patterns and reusable capabilities that can support multiple teams and organizations.
• Lead through influence and collaboration across teams without direct reporting authority.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience building large-scale cloud data platforms.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in modern data architecture, platform engineering, and cloud infrastructure.
• 5+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise security controls for cloud data platforms, including IAM and RBAC.
• Proven experience building and operating cloud infrastructure as code using Terraform or an equivalent technology.
• Experience partnering with Cloud Engineering, CISO, and GRC teams to integrate security controls into data platforms while maintaining clear ownership boundaries.
• Experience with data platforms and services including Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Azure, and containerized applications.
