Apex Systems is a global IT services provider and our consulting practice has an opening for a Data Prioritization Analyst with strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills to place at our client, a Big Five Bank, for an important and growing initiative within the Enterprise Data Office.

Job Summary

In todays increasingly complex financial services environment, accurate and complete data is critical for risk management, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. We are seeking a Data Prioritization Analyst to support the identification and prioritization of Critical Data Elements (CDEs) across business processes and regulatory reporting requirements.

Reporting to the Associate Director, you will work closely with Data Domain Stewards, Business Unit leadership, and Enterprise Data Management teams to identify critical data, document business processes, and support enterprise data governance initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with stakeholders, analyzing complex business processes, and driving data management best practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and enhance repeatable processes used to identify and prioritize Critical Data Elements (CDEs) with the highest impact on key business processes and regulatory reporting.
  • Engage Data Domain Stewards and Business Unit leaders to identify and define key business processes, critical reports, and data prioritization requirements.
  • Partner with Report Owners and delegates to identify and prioritize data using the enterprise-approved CDE identification methodology.
  • Support broader data management and governance initiatives across the organization.
  • Identify, capture, and maintain metadata associated with CDEs, including Business Terms, Data Classification, Owning Data Domain, Vintage Tags, and other governance attributes.
  • Ensure Data Prioritization and CDE metadata is accurately maintained within Collibra, the Enterprise Data Governance platform.
  • Research industry trends and emerging best practices in data management and governance to support continuous improvement efforts.

Communication & Documentation

  • Document critical data, business process usage, reporting impacts, and rationale within standardized CDE memo templates.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Risk Management, Finance, Liquidity, AML, and other business units.
  • Track, manage, and communicate project status updates, including identification and escalation of risks and issues.

Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of data management, data governance, metadata management, and enterprise data tools.
  • Support the Chief Data Office and various Data Management Offices in promoting standards, best practices, and data quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in data governance working groups, data literacy programs, and enterprise-wide data quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • 1-2+ years of experience in Data Management, Data Analysis, Risk Management, Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines.
  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline, Business Administration, Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience creating and maintaining business and/or technical documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with Collibra or other enterprise data governance platforms.
  • Knowledge of Critical Data Elements (CDEs), Metadata Management, or Data Governance practices.
  • Familiarity with financial services regulatory requirements and frameworks such as US Regulatory Reporting and BCBS 239.
  • Experience delivering data initiatives using Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira.
  • Ability to analyze and understand complex financial products, regulatory reporting, and associated data requirements.
  • Self-starter with a strong drive for results and continuous improvement.
