We are seeking a Data Scientist to support large-scale civic data initiatives. This role focuses on analyzing, organizing, and translating complex datasets into clear insights and compelling narratives for internal teams and external funders.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working within Airtable or similar database environments, managing large volumes of data, and delivering consistent reporting and storytelling around program performance and city-level outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and manage large datasets across ~3,000 projects within Airtable
- Clean, validate, and organize quantitative and qualitative (social science) data
- Develop and maintain reporting frameworks and monitoring systems
- Deliver weekly updates, bi-monthly technical reports, and monthly summaries
- Translate data into clear, actionable insights and narratives for stakeholders
- Track key metrics related to civic engagement, program success, and innovation
- Collaborate with internal teams (Strategic Insights, Communications) and external partners
- Support use of AI/LLM tools for reporting and trend identification
Requirements:
- 3–5 years of experience in data analysis, analytics, or data science
- Experience managing data from start to finish (collection, cleaning, analysis, reporting)
- Strong database experience (Airtable preferred; similar tools acceptable)
- Ability to translate data into meaningful insights and tell a clear story
- Experience working with large, complex datasets
- Strong communication and stakeholder-facing skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with public sector / city data / civic programs
- Exposure to AI / LLM tools for data analysis or reporting
- Experience improving or structuring database systems
Additional Details:
- Hybrid schedule: 2–3 days onsite in Baltimore, MD
- 37.5-hour work week (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Long-term contract with strong potential for extension
