Overview

The Senior Data Scientist leads the design, development, and implementation of data-driven solutions that support strategic decision-making and mission objectives. This role works closely with stakeholders, engineers, and analysts to translate complex data into actionable insights, leveraging advanced statistical, machine learning, and cloud-based analytical techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of data science projects — from data collection and exploration to model development, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Design and implement predictive models, NLP solutions, and advanced analytics to solve business and operational problems.
  • Work with large, complex datasets from multiple sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and security.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate data science solutions into production systems (cloud or on-prem).
  • Mentor junior data scientists and analysts, providing technical guidance and peer reviews.
  • Present findings and visualizations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, frameworks, and research in AI/ML and data science.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience applying machine learning and statistical modeling to real-world problems.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or Scala and strong knowledge of data science libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and data tools (Spark, Databricks, Airflow).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain one (for government contracts) preferred.
