PGS Worldwide is seeking a Data Scientist in Sterling Heights, MI for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Data Scientist will support Combat Mission Systems data infrastructure by designing, building, maintaining, and troubleshooting databases, data warehouses, data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting solutions. This role works with engineering, analytics, data science, development, and business stakeholders to turn complex data into reliable reporting, insights, recommendations, and data-driven actions.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Data Science, Math, Statistics, or an equivalent field.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
  • 6 years of experience designing, building, and maintaining data infrastructure, including databases, data warehouses, and data pipelines.
  • 6 years of proficiency with AWS Medallion architecture, including AWS Redshift.
  • 6 years of proficiency with dashboarding tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • 6 years of experience collecting data from multiple sources, including databases and APIs, and building efficient data pipelines.
  • 6 years of experience troubleshooting data infrastructure issues, monitoring system performance, and performing regular maintenance.
  • 3 years of proficiency with data cataloging tools such as Collibra.
  • 3 years of proficiency with data transformation tools such as Dataiku.
  • Strong analytical skills with knowledge of probability, statistics, and mathematical programming.
  • Ability to translate data into information, recommendations, and data-driven actions.
  • Experience developing data models and process flows while working with stakeholders to document or validate current-state business processes.
  • Experience developing requirements for data collection and downstream data use.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Power BI, Visual Basic, MS Excel, MATLAB/Simulink, Mathcad, MagicDraw, Midas, AWS/AWS Redshift, SSAS, Alation, Dataiku, Oracle, and SQL.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Jira or ServiceNow.
  • Proficiency with server usage and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of technical concepts, strategies, methodologies, architectures, and technical standards.

  • Experience with ASOT databases, data connectors, Midas, AWS cloud environments, Power BI data transformation, data architecture models, configuration control, and change impact analysis.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain data infrastructure, including databases, data warehouses, and data pipelines.
  • Collect data from multiple sources, including databases and APIs.
  • Build efficient pipelines that transform raw data into dashboards, reports, and actionable insights.
  • Ensure data is stored securely, efficiently, and in a format accessible for analysis and reporting.
  • Implement data validation and quality control processes.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
  • Optimize data pipelines for speed, scalability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to define and support data requirements.
  • Troubleshoot data infrastructure issues and monitor system performance.
  • Perform regular maintenance to support smooth data operations.
  • Support configuration control, documentation, and change impact analysis for business data architecture models.
  • Identify Authoritative Source of Truth databases and support connectors used to replicate and transform data into Midas and/or AWS cloud environments.
  • Support reporting, analytics, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Travel up to 10% as needed.

Work Schedule / Shift

  • 9/80 schedule.
  • Overtime expected as needed.

Pay

  • $55.57/hour
