Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Data Security Architect / Cybersecurity Consultant. The work will be done onsite based on the customers preference in East Peoria, IL. This is a long-term position (12 months) that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $68/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
The Data Security Architect will serve as a key technical expert within a cybersecurity engineering organization, bridging enterprise security requirements with practical system design and implementation. This role focuses on performing architectural reviews, assessing risk, and ensuring secure integration across hybrid environments and large-scale SaaS platforms. The consultant will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify vulnerabilities, enforce security standards, and design resilient, scalable solutions. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex enterprise systems while influencing security strategy and architecture across a global organization.
Key Responsibilities
Perform security architecture reviews of IT applications to ensure compliance with security standards and resilience by design
Assess architectural artifacts (e.g., diagrams, system flows) to identify risks, control gaps, and improvement opportunities
Design and validate secure integration patterns across hybrid environments and large-scale SaaS platforms
Conduct threat modeling and cybersecurity risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate vulnerabilities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and utilize tools such as ServiceNow and Azure DevOps for tracking, remediation, and workflow management
Required Qualifications
Associates or Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
8+ years of experience in IT architecture, including 23+ years in cybersecurity-focused roles
Strong experience with cloud and on-prem infrastructure, including networking, segmentation, and secure architecture design
Expertise in applying security frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and OWASP principles
Experience performing threat modeling, risk analysis, and evaluating application/system security posture
Preferred Qualifications
Cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or GIAC
Experience as a Cloud Architect, IT Architect, or Network Security Architect
Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture, micro-segmentation, and defense-in-depth strategies
Experience with encryption standards (AES-256, TLS 1.2+) and secure identity/access management
Familiarity with analyzing network diagrams, data flows, and application entry points for security vulnerabilities
