CTG is seeking an experienced Data Solution Architect to design and deliver enterprise-scale data platforms that support advanced analytics, business intelligence, machine learning, and reporting initiatives. This role combines deep technical expertise in cloud-native data engineering with strategic architecture leadership to build secure, scalable, and regulatory-compliant data solutions.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with cloud platforms, modern data architectures, ETL/ELT frameworks, real-time data processing, and enterprise data governance.
Location: Buffalo, New York (Preferred) / Remote (Expected travel to Buffalo, NY every 4–6 weeks with Monday–Thursday in-office; travel expenses reimbursed by M&T)
Duration: 6 months
Key Responsibilities
- Architect cloud-based data platforms using technologies such as Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Kafka, Snowflake, and Power BI.
- Design and implement scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for integrating data from legacy systems, SaaS applications, and real-time data streams.
- Build and optimize data warehouses, lakehouses, analytics sandboxes, and reporting environments.
- Establish data governance, metadata management, lineage tracking, and data quality standards.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture teams to ensure alignment with organizational standards and technology roadmaps.
- Lead evaluations and proof-of-concept initiatives for emerging technologies, including AI/ML platforms, streaming analytics, and data mesh architectures.
- Develop architecture diagrams, data flow models, security frameworks, and technical documentation.
- Guide Agile and DevOps teams in implementing CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and automated testing practices.
- Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, performance, and scalability requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Solution Architecture, Technical Architecture, or Enterprise Systems Design.
- 2+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise data platforms.
- Strong expertise with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with Databricks, Kafka, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake, and modern data engineering technologies.
- Proven experience designing ETL/ELT frameworks and large-scale data integration solutions.
- Knowledge of data modeling, metadata management, data quality, and governance frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerization, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of data security, encryption, access controls, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related technical discipline.
- AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, Certified Data Engineer, or similar certifications.
- Experience within banking, financial services, payments, digital assets, or fintech environments.
- Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and enterprise regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience with AI/ML platforms, streaming analytics, and modern data architecture patterns.
- Familiarity with Jira, Agile methodologies, SDLC processes, and enterprise DevOps environments.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $43.06 to $71.76/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
