Job Description
Johnson Service Group (JSG) is currently looking for a Senior Data Tester with data testing, ETL testing, data migration, and strong SQL experience. This is an opportunity with a company seeking support for data quality and testing initiatives. Our client is seeking a Senior Data Tester to validate data quality, accuracy, and completeness across data pipelines, data platforms, and reporting solutions.
Must Have skills
- 3+ years of experience in data testing, ETL testing, data migration testing, or data warehouse validation.
- Strong SQL skills with experience performing data validation, reconciliation, and data quality testing.
- Experience creating and executing test cases for ETL, data migration, data warehouse, reporting, and cloud data platform testing.
- Experience performing source-to-target validation, record/count checks, transformation validation, and data quality checks.
- Working knowledge of cloud data platforms, data warehouses, or big data environments.
- Experience preparing and validating test data for SIT, regression, UAT, and data migration testing.
- Experience identifying, documenting, tracking, and managing defects through closure.
- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate testing status, risks, defects, and results to stakeholders.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
Nice to Have skills
- Basic test automation skills for reducing repetitive manual data testing.
Responsibilities
- Review business requirements, data mappings, and design documents to determine testing scope and expected data outcomes.
- Develop and execute test cases covering ETL processes, data migrations, data warehouses, reporting solutions, and cloud data platforms.
- Perform source-to-target checks, count validations, transformation testing, reconciliation, and data quality checks.
- Use SQL to validate data quality, accuracy, completeness, and expected transformations.
- Apply basic automation techniques to improve testing efficiency and reduce repetitive manual validation.
- Prepare test data for SIT, regression, UAT, and data migration testing.
- Identify, document, and track defects through resolution in collaboration with development and data engineering teams.
- Support UAT activities and release readiness.
- Communicate testing status, risks, defects, and results to relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with business, development, and data engineering teams throughout the testing lifecycle.
- Contract Rate Range- $45-55 USD dependent on experience
