Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA) onshore

Location(s): Englewood Cliffs, NJ


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis databases across on-premises and AWS cloud environments.
  • Manage database replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions aligned with application requirements.
  • Administer and optimize AWS database and infrastructure services including RDS, Aurora, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, EC2, and S3.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, database deployments, and operational tasks using Ansible and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning using CloudWatch, PMM, Datadog, and MonYog.
  • Perform database health checks, routine maintenance, capacity planning, and troubleshooting to ensure system reliability and scalability.
  • Collaborate with developers on schema design, indexing strategies, query optimization, and database performance improvements.
  • Partner with DevSecOps teams to manage security hardening, patching, compliance, and upgrade activities.
  • Design and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions to minimize downtime and data loss.
  • Generate ad-hoc reports, analyze database metrics, and support operational decision-making.
  • Support Linux system administration and develop automation scripts using Shell scripting or Python.

Required Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis administration.
  • Experience managing AWS database services including RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and ElastiCache.
  • Knowledge of replication, failover, backup/recovery, and high-availability architectures.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible and CloudFormation.
  • Strong database monitoring and performance tuning expertise.
  • Proficiency in Linux administration.
  • Scripting skills in Shell or Python.
  • Experience working in production environments with performance, scalability, and security considerations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD integration.
  • Exposure to containerized or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of database migration and cloud modernization initiatives.
  • Strong troubleshooting and cross-functional collaboration skills.
