POSITION: Database Administrator Exemption Status/Test: Exempt/Computer Reports to: Executive Director of Technology Date Revised: January 31, 2025 Location: Technology Department Salary: PG 2 Admin/Prof - 226 days
Primary Purpose: Assist the Department in directly managing the information systems and computer services for the district. Manage full lifecycle of individual systems and services as assigned from conception, through production and final replacement. Create and/or organize systems to store and secure a variety of data. Troubleshooting issues in assigned databases and providing quick resolutions. Lead efforts related to initiating system tasks, identifying failures and abnormalities, initiating correc tive actions, and recommends and controls system recoveries to re-establish effective operations.

Able to demonstrate experience working with end-user technical support in a responsive, helpful, courteous, and tactful manner leading to a timely and appropriate problem resolution or escalation.
Must have the ability to effectively use all communication channels from and to all levels within the organizati on, encouraging the exchange of information while selecting the most appropriate communication style to best meet the needs of the situation or audience.
Must be able to listen carefully and thoughtfully to others, including those with differing opinions allowing you to successfully solve problems while staying true to the district's vision.
Will have strong desktop application troubleshooting skills.
Ability to focus on all levels of detail while managing technology related projects.
Must have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly and accurately troubleshoot issues of all types.
Knowledge of networking infrastructure design (Wired and Wireless).
Maintain a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft SQL.
Must have reliable transportation to travel between facilities daily (mileage reimbursement program).
Maintain clean data in assigned databases
Maintain accurate documentation regarding functions, operating procedures, and the dissemination of updates to users.
Responsible for security functionality of hardware and software within databases by maintaining staff accounts and security.
Design the data interchange between systems at end of period events related to student information systems a nd enterprise resource planning suite.
Responsible for data archival procedures and implementation of restores.
Coordinate the input of data from outside vendors (pictures, state test scores, etc.) into the assigned database software. Job Description Montgomery Independent School District
Implement new systems and modification to current system in an optimal manner without adverse effects on current systems.
Assist in the proactive monitoring of systems reliability and of system hardware/software. Correct all deficiencies through own efforts or outside support services as needed. Maintain a log of events.
Develop, maintain, and monitor data base access system tools related to assigned databases
Coordinate and provide training activities with other departments, produce necessary documentation.
Lead the design, installation, testing and implementation of solutions needed for access, applications, and security issues
Understand, document, and configure hardware and software related to assigned databases, and depended on systems for IP addressing, printer interface and disk management.
Assist in assigned activities related to student enrollment procedures such as, pre -enrollments, student attendance categories, transcripts and/or program components including but not limited to compliance, critical timeliness, student dropouts, and graduation rates for the purpose of ensuring compliance with legal and/or administrative re quirements.
Attend and participate in meetings, conferences, and seminars to be informed of new developments in managing information systems, especially in relation to state regulations governing student information and other state requirements.
