Role: Database Administrator
Project Name: Infrastructure Support
Location: Remote – USA
Rate: C2C All Inclusive
Responsibilities:
- Patching & Vulnerability Remediation: Review vulnerability scan results and promptly apply patches or configuration changes. System administrators are primarily responsible for remediating vulnerabilities.
- Upgrades & Maintenance: Perform regular operating system, database, and middleware upgrades. Manage storage and compute growth to support application scalability.
- Incident Response: Lead technical response efforts via ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems to meet published change-management SLAs. Isolate and troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
- Documentation & Reporting: Develop and maintain procedural documentation, project plans, and status reports. Provide management with clear summaries of critical issues, actions, and milestones.
- Collaboration & Leadership: Work with program and project managers, engineering teams, vendors, and end-users. Mentor junior administrators and facilitate training and knowledge sharing.
- Operational Excellence: Develop proactive monitoring and disaster recovery procedures.
- Track inventory, adhere to quality-assurance and change-management processes, and ensure compliance with security policies and audits.
Skills:
- Manage and optimize relational (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres) and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra). Duties include installing, patching, upgrading, and securing database platforms.
- Support Oracle eBusiness Suite installations and integrations on Linux servers.
- Design and implement disaster recovery strategies, backup/restore routines, and performance tuning. A strong understanding of database design, optimization, and query writing is essential.
