Database Architect
Santa Clara, CA 95054
Location: Santa Clara, CA - In-office at least 4 days a week
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without restrictions, no third-party applications

We are seeking an experienced Database Architect with experience in systems engineering to lead the design, optimization, and governance of an onpremise database ecosystem spanning NoSQL/analytic and relational platforms, combining deep database engineering expertise with strong systems architecture skills across computing, storage, networking, virtualization, and security.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Architect and maintain scalable ClickHouse clusters for highperformance analytical workloads
Design and operate robust HBase clusters
Implement ingestion and streaming patterns for NoSQL analytics (e.g., Kafka pipelines)
Architect highly available, scalable deployments of SQL Server or PostgreSQL on physical and virtual servers
Lead schema and data modeling (OLTP and analytical), including normalization, partitioning, indexing, and lifecycle design
Implement database access governance, least privilege and auditing
Partner with networking teams to design lowlatency, high-bandwidth network architectures supporting large-scale relational and analytic workloads
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 8 years of architecture/engineering experience in onprem enterprise environments
Proven experience architecting and operating ClickHouse clusters at scale
Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including HA/DR, tuning, indexing, partitioning, and replication
Handson expertise with HBase internals (HDFS, region servers, ZooKeeper, compactions)
Strong systems engineering background: Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server
Proficiency with VMware/HyperV virtualization and enterprise storage (SAN/NAS/NVMe)
Strong scripting/automation skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ansible
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Computer Science or related technical discipline
Familiarity with MPP/onpremise analytics ecosystems beyond ClickHouse/HBase
Any certifications in PostgreSQL, MSSQL, Linux, VMware, or Hadoop ecosystem
