Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Database Developer to design, develop, maintain, optimize, and modernize database solutions supporting U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) mission applications.
The Database Developer will work closely with application developers, data engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, secure, available, performant, and effectively integrated across mission-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize relational database solutions.
- Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and database objects.
- Support Oracle Database environments, including enterprise and cloud-hosted database platforms.
- Design efficient data models, schemas, relationships, indexes, and data-access strategies.
- Support application development teams with database design and integration requirements.
- Analyze and optimize database performance, queries, indexes, and data-access processes.
- Investigate production data anomalies and implement controlled database corrections while preserving data integrity.
- Support data migration, transformation, cleansing, reconciliation, and validation activities.
- Develop and maintain data interfaces and integrations between applications and databases.
- Support database security, access controls, auditing, backup/recovery, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in database modernization and migration initiatives.
- Develop automated database testing and validation processes where appropriate.
- Collaborate with Java, Dynamics, cloud, DevOps, QA, and data teams.
- Support production troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and resolution of database-related issues.
- Maintain database documentation, data dictionaries, technical specifications, and operational procedures.
- Support monitoring, performance optimization, scalability, and availability of database environments.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in database development and administration.
- Strong experience with Oracle Database and SQL.
- Experience developing stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, indexes, and complex queries.
- Strong understanding of relational database design, data modeling, normalization, and performance optimization.
- Experience supporting application/database integrations.
- Experience with data migration, validation, reconciliation, and data-quality activities.
- Experience troubleshooting production database issues and performance problems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with Oracle 19c and AWS RDS.
- Experience supporting federal government applications.
- Experience with AWS cloud environments.
- Experience with Java-based enterprise applications.
- Experience with Microsoft Dataverse/Dynamics 365 or other enterprise data platforms.
- Experience with database modernization and cloud migration.
- Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated database testing, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Experience supporting sensitive or regulated data environments.
- Oracle, AWS, or other relevant professional certifications.
Compensation:
The expected compensation range for this position is $90,000 - $140,000 annually. Compensation is determined in good faith and may vary based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, clearance level, labor category alignment, contract requirements, work location, internal equity, and business needs.
