Description

Red Arch is hiring a Database Engineer to join our team! Position Detail: We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer to support the modernization of a critical government information system. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Oracle database administration, specifically Oracle 19c, with proven experience in both on-premises and AWS RDS environments. You will be responsible for database creation, schema design and implementation, performance tuning, and establish robust backup and restore procedures to ensure data integrity and availability. You will work closely with Java developers to optimize database interactions, support SAP Business Intelligence reporting requirements, and ensure seamless integration with Apache Solr indexing processes. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues in production environments, and strong documentation skills.Position ResponsibilitiesDatabase Administration:

Create and manage Oracle 19c databases in both on-premises and AWS RDS environmentsDesign and implement database schemas to support application requirements
Perform database performance tuning and optimizationExecute patch management and version upgrades for Oracle databasesData Protection & Security:
Establish and maintain robust backup and restore proceduresImplement Oracle database security hardening measures
Ensure data integrity and availability across all environmentsDevelop and test disaster recovery plansMigration & Integration:
Optimize database interactions with Java application componentsSupport SAP Business Intelligence reporting requirements and queries
Ensure seamless integration with Apache Solr indexing processesCompliance & Monitoring:Implement compliance controls for government systems (FISMA, FedRAMP, or similar)
Deploy and maintain database monitoring toolsTroubleshoot complex database issues in production environments
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentationObtain and maintain required security clearanceEducation and Experience:13+ Years of experience in Systems or IT related roles or a highly related field of work with similar scope and responsibilities.A Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for 4 years of experience and a Master’s Degree may be substituted for 6 years of experienceRequired Quals:
Experience administering Oracle 19c databases in production environmentsExperience with Oracle database administration in both on-premises and AWS RDS environments
Experience designing and implementing database schemas for enterprise applicationsExperience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques
Experience establishing and maintaining backup and restore procedures for Oracle databasesExperience implementing Oracle database security hardening measures
Experience with patch management and version upgrades for Oracle databasesExperience optimizing database interactions with Java applications
Experience integrating databases with search/indexing platforms (Apache Solr experience preferred)Experience troubleshooting complex database issues in production environments
Experience implementing compliance controls for government systems (FISMA, FedRAMP, or similar frameworks)Experience deploying and maintaining database monitoring tools
Experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation for database systemsAbility to obtain and/or maintain a TS/SCI government clearance which requires US CitizenshipDesired Quals:
TS/SCI with an in-scope polygraphPlan and execute database migration strategies from on-premises VMware to AWS RDSExperience supporting Business Intelligence reporting requirements (SAP BI preferred)Work locations: Annapolis Jct. MD, Washington DC, or Reston VA. Salary range for this position: $150,000-205,000 #CJ
