Position Summary
We are seeking a Database Engineer Contractor to design, build, and support data pipelines and Lakehouse solutions in Databricks, primarily on Azure. This role will translate business and analyst requirements into reliable datasets and data products for Deloitte project teams. The position will also support platform performance, data quality, data integrity, and data security across the data lifecycle. Experience with Bronze, Silver, and gold data patterns and distributed data architectures is valuable in this role.
Work you'll do
The service you will provide the Deloitte project team as a Database Engineer Contractor will include:
- Design and build data pipelines and lakehouse workflows in Databricks on Azure.
- Develop Structured Query Language (SQL), Python, and Apache Spark processes to ingest, transform, and publish data.
- Create and maintain bronze, silver, and gold data layers for reporting, analytics, and downstream data products.
- Troubleshoot pipeline, job, and platform issues to improve reliability, performance, and data quality.
- Apply data governance, validation, and security practices across ingestion, transformation, and dataset delivery.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience with Databricks, Structured Query Language (SQL), Python, and Apache Spark
- Experience building extract, transform, load (ETL) and extract, load, transform (ELT) pipelines
- Experience with Azure data platforms
- Experience with data modeling, relational databases, and NoSQL databases
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or Luigi
- Ability to travel 100%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
- Ability to work onsite in the Cincinnati area 5 days per week.
Preferred:
- Experience with Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or Google BigQuery
- Experience with Power BI or Tableau
- Experience tuning and troubleshooting data platforms
- Experience with machine learning platforms or data science workflows
- Experience with Apache Kafka or Apache Flink
- Experience in finance or healthcare environments
The expected pay range for this contract assignment is $75 - $85 per hour. The exact pay rate will vary based on skills, experience, and location and will be determined by the third-party whose employees provide services to Deloitte.
