Our Data Platform Team designs, builds, and maintains the core database systems and automation frameworks that power our firm's sophisticated, multi-asset class investment strategies. Our mission is to engineer a highly automated, self-service data ecosystem that enables engineering and quantitative trading teams across the firm to innovate and execute at scale.
We are seeking a motivated, automation-focused technologist who thrives on solving complex system challenges and designing resilient, secure, high-performance database architectures. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping our next-generation data platform, bringing a modern software engineering approach to database infrastructure. This position offers excellent exposure to diverse operational areas of a modern hedge fund, giving you a direct platform to influence mission-critical systems.
Platform Architecture: Design and optimize scalable enterprise database solutions to support high-throughput trading and analytical workloads.
Automation-First Engineering: Develop robust infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and automation scripts to provision, configure, and maintain database environments.
Performance Engineering: Identify and resolve complex query bottlenecks, optimize indexing, analyze execution plans, and ensure high availability.
Collaboration & Integration: Work closely with quant researchers, developers, and infrastructure teams to design schemas, manage transactions, and implement version-controlled database deployments.
Experience: 3+ years of professional engineering experience, ideally within a fast-paced financial sector environment (covering equity, fixed income/credit, or derivatives trading).
Database Mastery: Deep engineering expertise with enterprise database technologies, focusing heavily on Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL).
The Automation Toolbelt: Proficient in developing automation and system tools using Python, PowerShell, and complex SQL.
Modern Infrastructure Mindset: Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for repeatable, automated platform deployments.
Database Foundations: Strong understanding of database design, normalization, transactions, locking behaviors, and schema versioning.
CI/CD & Version Control: Hands-on experience with Git workflows and deploying database changes through pipelines like Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
Observability: Experience using open-source monitoring and alerting stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) to track system health and performance metrics.
Communication: Strong collaborative skills and the ability to clearly document technical designs and processes.
