Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain enterprise-level PostgreSQL and MySQL database platforms across on-premises and AWS cloud environments.
  • Configure, manage, and optimize AWS database services including Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS for MySQL, Amazon Aurora, and MySQL Cluster environments.
  • Plan and execute migrations of databases from on-premises environments to AWS cloud platforms (IaaS and PaaS).
  • Design, implement, and maintain MySQL clustering, replication, failover, and high-availability solutions.
  • Contribute to database architecture and capacity planning to ensure scalability, reliability, performance, and security.
  • Design, implement, and maintain disaster recovery strategies for PostgreSQL and MySQL environments hosted on AWS.
  • Monitor performance, integrity, and security of all database platforms and investigate anomalies and production incidents.
  • Perform routine database maintenance tasks including index optimization, query tuning, backups, and consistency checks.
  • Plan and perform database upgrades, patching, and migrations for standalone, clustered, and cloud-hosted database servers.
  • Oversee and lead migration projects, including lift-and-shift, modernization, and re-platforming efforts to AWS cloud environments.
  • Manage database accounts, roles, and permissions in compliance with security standards.
  • Audit database activity and maintain logs for compliance and analysis.
  • Implement encryption, secure connectivity (TLS/SSL), and other security controls for data at rest and in transit.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of database environments, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Generate reports on database performance, capacity, and usage trends.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams to streamline deployments and resolve incidents.
  • Mentor junior DBAs and establish operational best practices for AWS database management.

Requirements

  • BS degree
  • Experience managing enterprise PostgreSQL and MySQL environments in hybrid infrastructures (on-premises and AWS cloud).
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS database services and cloud migration projects.
  • Expertise in PostgreSQL and MySQL installation, configuration, optimization, clustering, replication, and backup/recovery.
  • Knowledge of high-availability architectures, disaster recovery, and security implementations (encryption, SSL/TLS, IAM).
  • Ability to troubleshoot performance issues, optimize SQL queries, and implement performance tuning strategies.
  • Proven ability to manage complex database environments and lead migration efforts to AWS.
  • Experience with backup tools, automation scripting, monitoring tools, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Capability to perform in high-pressure environments and manage multiple incidents simultaneously.
  • Mandatory DOT Questionnaire completed and attached with submissions.
  • USC or GC and resides in U.S. for at least 3 years.
