Job Title: Database Manager - BIM

Location: DFW Metroplex, TX (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 Annually (Based on experience)

Company Introduction

This opportunity is with a well-established mechanical contracting firm with more than 40 years of experience delivering innovative HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal solutions. The company specializes in major mechanical projects for hospitals, data centers, and high-rise commercial buildings, earning a reputation for safety, precision, and high-quality workmanship.

The organization fosters a collaborative, growth-focused culture where employees refine their skills, share knowledge, and advance within a supportive team environment.

Role Overview

The BIM / CAD-MEP Database Manager will own the computer systems, databases, scripts, and software workflows that support mechanical fabrication modeling, coordination, and reporting. This individual will work directly with VDC, project management, fabrication, and field users to understand what the systems need to do, define functional requirements, and turn those requirements into dependable BIM and CAD-MEP tools.

Responsibilities center on the analysis, design, development, documentation, testing, and modification of BIM, CAD-MEP, Revit, fabrication database, automation, and reporting systems, including Dynamo scripting, Power BI dashboards, and Autodesk Construction Cloud workflows. This is a systems and automation role, not a production detailing seat.

Ideal candidates are technically fluent problem solvers with deep experience in mechanical construction technology, proven success building and maintaining fabrication databases and automation tools, and the ability to translate the needs of shop and field users into standards, scripts, and reporting that hold up on real projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, document, analyze, test, and modify CAD-MEP and Revit data systems, including fabrication databases, Revit family libraries, content standards, and data exchange workflows.
  • Build, test, and maintain Dynamo scripts and related automation tools used for QA/QC, model data management, coordination checks, reporting, and workflow cleanup.
  • Develop and maintain prototypes, templates, scripts, and standardized workflows that improve model-to-fabrication alignment and make project data easier to use.
  • Analyze database, model, and workflow problems, identify root causes, and modify systems, scripts, content, or procedures to correct issues and prevent repeat errors.
  • Develop, test, and maintain Power BI dashboards, data models, and reports that convert BIM and fabrication data into practical project and production information.
  • Configure and support Autodesk Construction Cloud workflows, including coordination setup, document structure, permissions, and model and data processes.
  • Maintain technical documentation for systems, scripts, data standards, naming conventions, version control, and user procedures.
  • Coordinate with internal IT, software vendors, and operations teams on integrations, APIs, upgrades, data migration, and system performance as needed.
  • Review BIM and fabrication systems for accuracy, consistency, and usability, then recommend and implement improvements based on user feedback and project needs.
  • Meet with VDC, project management, fabrication, and field users to gather requirements and define functional specifications for BIM, CAD-MEP, Revit, ACC, automation, and reporting workflows.

Required Background

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship as sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • 5+ years of experience in BIM/VDC, mechanical construction technology, CAD-MEP/Revit database management, or a similar computer systems role.
  • Strong working knowledge of Revit and Autodesk Fabrication tools, including Fabrication CADmep, CAMduct, and ESTmep.
  • 3+ years of experience gathering user requirements and translating them into software, database, automation, and reporting specifications.
  • 3+ years of experience designing, building, testing, and maintaining Dynamo scripts or similar automation tools.
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud and Power BI.
  • Understanding of HVAC, piping, plumbing, and fabrication workflows so system designs fit real project and shop needs.
  • Ability to document technical standards clearly and support users without needing step-by-step direction.
  • Familiarity with APIs, data connectors, or advanced automation tools preferred.

Compensation & Perks

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off and paid holidays.
  • Referral program and growth opportunities.
  • Path for advancement into different VDC roles.
