Job Description

This is a remote position with some in-person aspects at times, based on the needs of the customers within our support structure. Our team provides support for staff in the student administrative offices (Registrar, Cashiers, Financial Aid, Admissions, and Residential Life) at the four University of Missouri System institutions.

The software our team supports include the enterprise Student Administration System (the student life cycle from recruiting to graduation) and multiple vended applications. A few of the current applications in use are PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, College Source u.achieve and Planner, StarRez, Technosolutions Slate, College Scheduler Schedule Planner, CBORD, TouchNet and Instructure Canvas.

As a Database Programmer Analyst on our team, your primary duties would include troubleshooting, analyzing, and developing software application solutions to support student administration business operation needs; maintaining and upgrading software delivered by vendors during their release cycle; and addressing service requests submitted by the four campus functional user groups. Projects include implementation of internally and externally hosted software, internal initiatives, upgrades, vendor bug fixes and critical releases. Assignments necessitate advanced technical skills and include requirements analysis; data analysis using Oracle SQL; and design activities for enhancements, reports, interfaces and data conversions. Qualified candidate would possess abilities to prepare technical specifications for modifications to software applications; independently analyze complex problems; identify critical elements and alternatives for successful and improved efficiencies of business operation procedures; learn, understand and/or develop processes in conjunction with customer needs; design, code, and implement appropriate solutions, and coordinate end user testing. Conducting end user training may be required.

Successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly with non-technical users, to ensure an understanding of the scope of issues, solution options and consequence of decisions. A willingness and ability for collaboration with teammates and other technical teams is essential.

An understanding of basic project management practices and the capacity to adhere to critical deadlines is desired. Qualified candidate must be able to handle multiple assignments and swiftly change focus when priorities shift. A positive attitude, ability to learn new technologies, willingness to engage with people, and energy for a multi-faceted and quick-paced job are required.

Shift

Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

Evening, weekend and call-in work may be required to meet deadlines and correct system failures.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field or at least 2 years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of or proven capability to quickly learn programming languages, data analysis using SQL, operating systems, a text editor, report generators, remote processing and virtual systems to be utilized/supported. Knowledge of data modeling concepts; design techniques; data integrity; database definitions; testing and debugging programs, reports, and processes; and applying security concepts while designing and maintaining software applications. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with cross-departmental teams. Time management and organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure; meet inflexible deadlines; deal with difficult individuals while maintaining composure. Evening, weekend and call-in work may be required to meet deadlines and correct system failures.

Two years programming experience, knowledge and experience using Oracle SQL, experience supporting PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. Residence within the state of Missouri is preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $53,976.00 - $75,000.00 per year commensurate with experience
