Databricks Engineer / AI Data Platform Engineer
Location: Primarily Remote (Preference for Mountain Time) Utah/ Salt Lake City preferred
Duration: Initial 6-month contract with potential extension or contract-to-hire
Employment Type: Contract (Full-Time Preferred; Part-Time may also be considered)

Overview
Structured Communication Systems is seeking a Databricks Engineer to support a client within their Data Warehouse & AI organization. This consultant will focus primarily on Databricks development and platform support while partnering closely with the client's data warehouse and AI teams. This is an exciting opportunity to support enterprise AI initiatives and help modernize reporting, analytics, and data management capabilities utilizing the Databricks platform.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and support Databricks solutions for enterprise reporting and data management
Build and optimize data pipelines and workflows within Databricks
Partner closely with Data Warehouse, Data Engineering, and AI teams
Support enterprise AI initiatives leveraging modern data platforms
Assist with data integration, transformation, and analytics projects
Collaborate with technical stakeholders to design scalable solutions
Participate in architecture discussions and recommend best practices
Occasional travel for kickoff meetings or client onsite visits may be required

Required Qualifications

Hands-on Databricks experience (Required)
Strong experience with Data Warehousing concepts
Experience supporting enterprise reporting and analytics environments
Experience working alongside Data Science or AI teams
Python and SQL experience
Experience building scalable data pipelines
Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

AI / Machine Learning exposure
Experience supporting AI-driven initiatives
Familiarity with enterprise AI platforms
Experience with Anthropic Claude or similar LLM platforms
Experience with modern data platforms and reporting solutions
Azure Databricks preferred
Spark / PySpark
Delta Lake
MLflow
Data Engineering background
