Job Description: Data Modeler (Databricks)
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Modeler with expertise in Databricks and strong domain knowledge in Oil & Gas, Refinery & Marketing, and Commodity trading/management. The ideal candidate will have prior experience designing and implementing data models in similar business environments, regardless of the input data source or output tool.
Key Responsibilities
Data modeling: Design, develop, and optimize conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business processes in Oil & Gas, Refinery & Marketing, and Commodity domains.
Databricks development: Build scalable data pipelines, transformations, and models using Databricks and Delta Lake.
Domain driven modeling: Translate complex business requirements into robust data structures aligned with industry standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to ensure models meet analytical and operational needs.
Data governance: Ensure compliance with data quality, lineage, and governance standards.
Performance optimization: Tune models and queries for efficiency and scalability across large datasets.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong hands on experience with Databricks, PySpark, and SQL.
Proven track record of creating data models in Oil & Gas, Refinery & Marketing, or Commodity trading/management environments.
Deep understanding of industry specific data entities such as production, refining, logistics, pricing, and trading.
Ability to work with diverse data sources (structured, semi structured, unstructured) and integrate them into unified models.
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT pipelines, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and MLflow.
Knowledge of data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) for model validation.
Exposure to commodity risk management systems or ERP integrations.
Understanding of data governance frameworks like DAMA DMBOK.
