Hours: Tues - Sat; 6 am to 2:30 pm

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Head Custodian, the Day Custodian is responsible

for satisfactorily performing functions associated with custodial operations, including minor

maintenance tasks. Individual work area assignments may not be given, but rather a team cleaning approach used throughout the building.

The basic work week of full-time employees will be eight (8) hours per day, forty (40) hours per week and are subject to the right of the Facilities Custodial Supervisor to schedule overtime work.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Perform structured and non-structured cleaning of classrooms, restrooms, gyms, locker rooms, cafeterias, kitchens, office areas and all other school areas with a minimum of supervision.

  2. Participate in maintaining clean grounds, walks, and play areas by policing grounds, mowing lawns, sweeping walks and entrance ways, and removing snow.

  3. As directed by Head Custodian or designee, perform and assist in performing minor maintenance tasks (change light bulbs or tubes, change light switches, change outlets, change ballast, etc.).

  4. Maintain clean and orderly work and supply areas.

  5. Perform custodial duties relating to the cafeteria program, assemblies, night school activities, athletic events, and social events.

  6. Perform all other related custodial duties as assigned by the Head Custodian, Principal or Facilities Custodial Supervisor. Note: In some cases the Principal will work directly through the head custodian but may occasionally will work directly with the day custodian.

  7. Participate in all phases of the summer cleaning program in accordance with District policies, procedures and directives.

  8. All internal employees are required to check their district email at least three (3) times per week.

  9. Or other duties assigned.

  6. Self-starter.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift 75 pounds without assistance; must be able to remain in a stationary upright position for long periods of time; must be able to freely move about inside the workspace; must be able to work in environments of extreme heat and cold, including shoveling snow; regularly required to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees, administration and all other stakeholders; must be able and capable of working from ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment.
