DAYCARE FACILITY/OPERATION DIRECTOR
Purpose Statement
The job of Daycare Facility/Operation Director was established for the purpose of caring for children and managing the staff/daycare facility by cultivating an environment in which children and their parents can feel safe, secure, and receive quality childcare. This position reports to the Business Manager.
Functions
The daycare facility/operation director is the individual responsible for all functions of the daycare facility and, as such, must be knowledgeable of all functions and performance of the facility.
Essential Functions
- Sets short and long-term goals for the facility/operation.
- Keeps accurate files on employees, children, and activities.
- Conducts interviews and reviews the qualifications of all new staff before hiring the most qualified applicants.
- Manages the work schedule of all daycare staff.
- Supervises and collaborates with staff in order to adhere to facility/operation standards, ensuring regular engagement in all classrooms.
- Provides evaluations for staff on their performance.
- Orders and purchases supplies, including furniture, toys, cleaning supplies, food, and first aid supplies.
- Ensures that the facility and staff adhere to all state and local regulations, including facilitating professional development for childcare staff as needed.
- Coordinates the delivery of meals to daycare children.
- Submits monthly required paperwork to the business office by deadlines.
- Monitors budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances, and related financial activities for the purpose of ensuring that all allocations are accurate, revenues are recorded, and expenses are within budget limits.
- Collaborates with the high school principal/counselor to provide high school students with work/training opportunities in early childhood when possible.

- Must have strong crisis management abilities and be able to maintain a cool composure in times of crisis.
- Must understand the importance of confidentiality and hold self and staff to high standards when it comes to the privacy of information and individuals.
- Must have strong administrative and time management skills.
- Must possess excellent customer service.
- Must be professional and provide a public face for the daycare facility.
Work Environment
Time is spent in the daycare facility divided between childcare, paper/regulatory work, and supervision of staff.
Experience
- Must be able to pass a background check for both the District and Department of Family Services.
- Must have or be able to obtain all CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Must be a fully licensed daycare provider by the state of Wyoming.
