Overview

East Penn Manufacturing is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shipping Support Clerk to provide administrative and operational support for shipping activities at our Maidencreek facility. This position serves as a key point of contact for carriers, drivers, and internal departments, helping ensure accurate documentation, efficient communication, and timely shipment processing.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming phone calls and communicate with carriers, drivers, and internal personnel regarding shipping activities.
• Contact carriers to coordinate shipment scheduling, appointments, and transportation needs.
• Print loading copies and sort/distribute documentation to appropriate locations.
• Assist common carriers and drivers by completing and processing required shipping paperwork.
• Monitor shipping boards to ensure products are prepared and available for scheduled shipments.
• Review finished load reports and verify accuracy against loading copies and shipping documentation.
• Complete required paperwork and reports for DEKA truck shipments.
• Support yard jockey operations by providing trailer assignments, dock locations, and shipment information.
• Prepare, maintain, and file shipping paperwork, reports, and related records.
• Ensure all shipping documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Work closely with Shipping, Transportation, and Warehouse personnel to support daily operations.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Basic math skills including:

Computer Skills

• Basic computer skills required.
• Experience or ability to work with:
• Personal Computer (PC)
• Mainframe systems
• Microsoft Word
• Microsoft Excel

Reasoning Skills

• Ability to evaluate information, identify discrepancies, and make sound decisions regarding shipping documentation and processes.

Communication Skills

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good telephone skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with carriers, drivers, customers, and internal departments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous clerical, administrative, transportation, logistics, shipping, or warehouse support experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
