Schedule: Monday - Friday from 7:30am - 3:30pm on days when school is in session.
Compensation: $23.00-$26.00 per hour, depending on experience

We are seeking a Childrens Mental Health Practitioner to work with our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Day Treatment Program on the campus of the MN State Academy for the Deaf in Faribault, MN facilitating CTSS group work. The Mental Health Practitioner is Responsible for planning and leading daily Children's Therapeutic Support Services (CTSS) skills. The Mental Health Practitioner will lead group skill training and development sessions, complete timely documentation, and deliver an individualized plan of care consistent with the client goals and objectives from their individualized treatment plan. Will work in conjunction with the client's therapists, school supports, families, and community supports in the development and delivery of services. Will use a trauma informed and person-centered approach to service provision.
Program Description:
Vona Center for Mental Health is excited to partner with the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf (MSAD) to open a new program on the MSAD campus to serve youth with mental health needs that are higher than can be met with outpatient or school-based therapy alone. This program will uniquely serve youth with hearing loss, whether they use American Sign Language or another form of communication, to meet their mental health needs while their educational needs are met by teachers at MSAD. Youth will spend half of their day in the educational setting and the other half receiving group psychotherapy and group skills training. Youth will also receive individual and family psychotherapy while participating in this intensive program.

An individual is qualified as a mental health practitioner in at least one of the ways described in paragraphs below
Through relevant coursework if the individual completes at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related fields and:
A mental illness or a substance use disorder OR a traumatic brain injury or a developmental disability, and prior to providing direct contact services to a client completes at least 30 hours of additional training in the areas of mental illness, client recovery and resiliency, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders, and psychotropic medications and side effects. (Training may be provided if you do not have all of it.)
Has at least 2,000 hours of experience providing services to individuals with:
Is fluent in the non-English language of the ethnic group to which at least 50 percent of the individuals clients belong and completes the 30 hours of additional training described above before providing direct contact services to a client;
Is working in a day treatment program under section 256B.0671, subdivision 3, or 256B.0943;
Has completed a practicum or internship that (i) required direct interaction with adult clients or child clients, and (ii) was focused on behavioral sciences or related fields; or
Is in the process of completing a practicum or internship as part of a formal undergraduate or graduate training program in social work, psychology, or counseling.
An individual is qualified as a mental health practitioner through work experience if the individual:
Receives treatment supervision at least once per week until meeting the requirement in clause (1) of 4,000 hours of experience and has at least 2,000 hours of experience providing services to individuals with: a mental illness, substance use disorder, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disability.
