Deal Origination Associates support investment teams by identifying, sourcing, and qualifying potential investment opportunities. The role blends market research, financial analysis, relationship building, and pipeline management in a fast-paced, transaction-oriented environment.
These professionals work closely with investment partners, business development teams, bankers, intermediaries, founders, and corporate executives to build and maintain a robust deal pipeline.
Source and evaluate new investment opportunities through market research, industry mapping, and outreach initiatives
Build and maintain relationships with founders, management teams, bankers, brokers, and industry intermediaries
Conduct industry research, competitive landscape analysis, and target company screening
Develop and maintain pipeline tracking systems and CRM databases
Prepare investment teasers, screening memos, and preliminary financial analyses
Assist in valuation analysis, financial modeling, and initial due diligence efforts
Monitor sector trends, transaction activity, and comparable deals
Coordinate meetings, calls, and follow-ups with potential targets and advisors
Support senior investment professionals in advancing qualified opportunities to formal diligence
Identify new sectors, niches, or themes aligned with the firm’s investment strategy
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
Strong understanding of private markets transactions and deal processes
Experience in investment banking, private equity, private credit, venture capital, consulting, or corporate development (preferred but not required)
Solid financial modeling and valuation skills
Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with CRM tools and data platforms (e.g., Capital IQ, PitchBook) is a plus
