Dean|Fluor Lead Electrical Maintenance Technician -Vienna VA

Lead Electrical Maintenance Technician on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for all electrical work. Coordinates the scheduling and execution of Preventative and Predictive Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance and Warranty work. The Lead Electrical Maintenance Technician will split their time between administrative efforts planning, scheduling and documenting the work and field time with the crew performing the work. They will act as the first line of supervision to the electrical crews. 

Works with Electrical Maintenance Technicians to ensure Electrical maintenance is completed safely, on schedule and within equipment manufacturer’s recommendations. Duties include:

1. Installation, maintenance, testing, calibration and commissioning of electrical systems and components.
2. Act as “Employee in Charge” on some jobs, ensuring that jobs are efficiently planned and safely completed.
3. Perform other assignments as required. Some supervision required.
4. Read and interpret one line drawing, schematics drawings and other service documents, including manufacturer’s instructions and manuals.
5. Responsible for maintaining personal protective equipment (PPE), hand tools and test equipment.
6. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others in your assigned work area by ensuring understanding and compliance with safety policies, practices and procedures.
7. Ability to identify and wear appropriate PPE as required by the task being performed.
8. Ability to understand and adhere to strict Standard Operating Procedures and Switching Plans.
9. Requires troubleshooting capabilities, to include the digital multi-meters, clamp on ammeters, power quality meters, infrared scanners, circuit tracers
10. Simple protective relay calibration and commissioning.
11. Perform point to point verification of control wiring.
12. Perform equipment switching, isolation, LOTO, zero volt check and grounding.
13. Perform maintenance, tests and inspections on the following equipment: high voltage SF6 circuit breakers, medium voltage vacuum circuit breakers, low voltage power circuit breakers, switchboards, panel boards, ground systems, motor starters, variable frequency drive’s, low and medium voltage cables, low, medium and high voltage switches, ground fault systems, isolation transformers, two-winding transformers, power transformers, instrument transformers, automatic transfer switches, static transfer switches, sectionalizing switches, batteries, and all equipment associated with low and medium voltage substation and switchgear systems.
14. Working knowledge of NETA MTS testing specifications
15. Accurately record field data for all tests and inspections utilizing Power DB and Maximo.
16. Assist with start-up services on switchgear and electrical systems up through 138 kV.
17. Conduct safety meetings as required.
18. Ensure compliance with Dean Fluor environmental and safety policies.
19. Maintain strong team and client relationships.

Must be capable of achieving and maintaining TS security clearance.

High school diploma or GED coupled with Electrical Journeyman license or a Technical Degree\Certificate in a related field i.e. AS in Electrical\Electronics, Instrumentation, Controls or NETA Level II or NICET Level II in Electrical Power Testing:

1. A minimum of 10 years experience in facilities maintenance with thorough understanding of electrical systems, controls, generators, and life safety systems, preferred five years related experience in data center or complex mission critical environments.
2. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to efficiently schedule and execute work in a dynamic environment with large numbers of equipment.
3. Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex technical instructions, plans blueprints, and schematic diagrams.
4. Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NETA maintenance practices, maintenance and supply procedures, and quality control procedures.
5. Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex electrical systems, perform damage assessments, estimate maintenance, parts, and manpower requirements, diagnose malfunctions, and employ testing and inspection techniques
6. Ability to organize and prioritize workload with minimal supervision
7. Ability to work in confined spaces and on ladders, and to lift equipment over six feet above ground
8. Must conform to all city, state and federal licensing and certification requirements.

Abilities

1. Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.
2. Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
3. Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
4. Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
5. Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
6. May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
7. Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.  It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
