QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree
Valid NJ School Administrator or Principal Certificate
Valid NJ Teacher Certification
Ability to develop and/or implement the principal's vision for climate and culture
An understanding of educational policy and practice
Ability to communicate effectively with students and families about behavioral expectations
Ability to motivate and inspire stakeholders toward a common goal
Experience with Mac OS 10.5 or greater and Windows XP and 7
REPORTS TO: School Principal
RESPONSIBILITY:
The Dean of Students performs a variety of duties associated with the identification, training, implementation, and supervision of restorative practices in disciplinary action in alignment with the district code of conduct. The individual will work closely with the administration and staff in facilitating disciplinary action and a disciplinary action plan. He/she will work with the principal to manage school security. He/She will also work with the secondary staff in leading the effective implementation and continuous improvement of a school-wide program designed to improve climate and culture.
FUNCTION:
He/She will work collaboratively with NJDOE staff and the high school Principal to develop a strategic implementation plan to improve climate and culture. He/She will also establish a system to measure improvements in culture and climate, including attendance and discipline data and climate survey responses. In addition, he/she will provide staff development to the high school administration, faculty, and families to increase their skill level in developing , social, and emotional supports for students.
PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES:
Maintain and organize electronic student data records, regarding student suspensions, repeat infractions, progressive discipline, and EVVRS reports.
Assist the Willingboro High School staff and administration with best practices for de-escalation and safety.
Use existing and available data sources to improve decision-making by the school administrative team and staff regarding student patterns for unfavorable behavior.
Support staff in designing and tracking positive behavior supports for students.
Support the school's staff in the development of action plans from custom student data extractions to increase positive student behaviors.
Participate in the preparation of written reports and oral presentations that summarize the analysis of data, interpret the findings, and provide conclusions and recommendations.
Works with the Principal to design school supervision maps for teachers, security, and staff for high-traffic times, including lunch, arrival, and dismissal.
Work collaboratively with staff members on the effective use of data to improve climate/culture and increase student achievement.
Assist all staff members in obtaining pertinent data to track student conduct and generate parent-friendly reports for improving teaching and learning.
Provide professional development to staff members on how to productively analyze student behavior and triggers to use data for continuous improvement.
Uses data to monitor key indicators, develop strategies to increase compliance with policy, and assess the effectiveness of practice.
Collaborates with building administrators and school-based teams to build their capacity to develop school-wide systems for student discipline that incorporate the following: regular data analysis; data-based decision-making; identification of students in need of support; provision of high-quality interventions when students' behavior results in repeated disciplinary responses; and strategies to promote student behavior and school climate.
Provides recommendations to improve district policies and school-based implementation; interviews and surveys staff and other stakeholders to determine opportunities for improvement; and researches specific issues and develops detailed recommendations and implementation plans to ensure continuous improvement and innovation.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with state law and the provisions of the Board of Education's policy on evaluation of certified staff.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000
